Backrow privacy policy

Backrow is an iOS app for household media catalogs, ratings, recommendations, watch plans, and assistant-backed search.

Data we collect

• Account data: email address, display name, and optional avatar used for sign-in and profile display.
• Library activity: titles, ratings, watch status, saved lists, queue state, ownership, notes, and recommendation interactions.
• Assistant activity: Backrow/ELLIS queries, conversation state, accepted or dismissed suggestions, and diagnostic receipts used to improve app behavior.
• Area context: approximate area only when enabled, used for local releases, airings, weather, and availability context.
• Diagnostics: crash, performance, delivery, and error data used to keep the app reliable.
• Device-local settings: appearance, layout, notification, voice, and content-source preferences stored on your device or account as needed.

How we use data

• To show your household catalog, ratings, recommendations, lists, and watch plans.
• To personalize recommendations and assistant responses using your household's own signals.
• To send notifications or email digests only when you enable those surfaces.
• To diagnose crashes, sync failures, stale data, and assistant-quality issues.

Tracking and advertising

Backrow does not sell personal data and does not track you across other apps or websites for advertising. The app does not use third-party advertising.

Third-party services

• Apple Sign in with Apple: authentication.
• Supabase: authentication, database, storage, realtime sync, and Edge Functions.
• OneSignal: push notification delivery when notifications are enabled.
• The Movie Database (TMDB), Watchmode, OMDb, Google Books, and related catalog providers: media metadata, posters, availability, and identifiers.
• Hosted model providers: optional server-side assistant and quality workflows when on-device processing is unavailable or when admin tooling needs them. Backrow limits the data sent to the task being performed.

Health data

Backrow does not use HealthKit and does not collect health, fitness, medical, or biometric data.

Your controls

• Export your data from Settings in the app.
• Delete your account from Settings → Account & Privacy → Delete Account.
• Change notification, area context, content-source, and assistant preferences from Settings.

Account deletion

In-app account deletion currently deactivates your Backrow account and unlinks sign-in. Some records required for restoration, fraud prevention, or legal compliance may be retained.

Children

Backrow is designed for household use and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as Backrow evolves. Material changes will be reflected here and, when appropriate, announced in the app.
